From Penzance to Newcastle by "Voyager" - now there's torture for anyone brave enough to risk it. Arguably amongst the most uncomfortable trains on the network, Arriva Cross Country set no. 221129 takes some poor souls east and north at 12.07 on the 1S49 09.30 Penzance to Newcastle. You can probably tell that I'm not a great fan of these trains, and with good reason, having travelled on them and suffered the pain as a result. Claustrophobic to say the least, not to mention the hard seats with limited clearance. And the noise from the underfloor engines....
