The passengers will have been pretty disappointed to find a Class 57 at the head of their steam excursion to Plymouth. West Coast Railways Class 57 no. 57601 is on top of ex-GWR King 4-6-0 no. 6024 "King Edward I", and passes along the sea wall at 12.02. The protracted long hot and dry weather had caused the diesel to be added to the train to reduce the risk of line side fires. The train, "The Devonian", is operated by Railway Touring Co. and is running as 1Z54 06.05 Birmingham International (09.21 Bristol Temple Meads) to Plymouth.
