Taking the path up towards Coity Mountain allows for some truly spectacular views of the railway in its entirety - almost! At 12.30 Class 37 no. 37216 stands at the short platform at Whistle Inn, with the inn itself to the left (well worth a visit too!). The altitude here is 1,307ft, I think the highest of any of the UK heritage lines, standard gauge at least. The road winds its way up away from the inn and over towards Brynmawr. The Black Mountains stand in the far distance.
