Another classic Union Pacific locomotive: the EMD DDA40X "Centennial". #6944 was one of 47 originally built, and is one of 13 survivors. Since my photo the loco has received extensive cosmetic restoration. I have to say it was looking a little weathered at the time of my visit. With an impressive 6,600hp available, this was effectively two SD40-2s in one, with two EMD 645E3 power units on the D-D chassis.
