Here's another iconic American train: Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad #9902 "Silver Charger" is the locomotive that hauled the "General Pershing Zephyr". This train was the 9th and final of the CB&Q streamliners built in 1939. The train bodywork was built by Budd and the power equipment supplied by GM EMD. The name of the unit honours General Pershing's horse. The unit had a EMD 567 V12 engine producing 1000hp, with power transferred to rail via the two powered axles of the A1A truck at the front - the rear truck was unpowered. Retired in 1966 it went straight to the museum here at St. Louis.
