A duo of Brushes at the diesel gala! On loan from Freightliner, Class 47 no, 47358 "Ivanhoe" (an unofficial name) and Fragonset's Class 31 no. 31128 "Charybdis" have charge of the 15.25 Alton to Alresford train, running extremely later at 16.46, and just leaving Medstead & Four Marks.
Looking at the immaculate no. 47358 it is hard to accept that the loco is no more. Withdrawn from service soon after this event, it was kept in storage for a short while before being moved to T. J. Thomson, Stockton and scrapped there in March 2009. And yet it received all that cosmetic attention, including the Tinsley-style name, just for this gala!
Fragonset may be gone too, but no. 31128 lives on, and at the time of writing (2021) is even registered for main line operations!
