I've moved to a location just west of Medstead and Four Marks, in a cutting where trains are climbing hard to the summit from Alresford, so for the rest of the afternoon I capture a wide variety of trains working hard up the hill, or conversely, glide down from Medstead! At 16.01 the unmistakeable sound of two English Electric power plants at full trash are heard long before they are seen. But eventually no. 37401 "Royal Scotsman" (in maroon livery) and large-logo 37190 storm past my spot with the 14.45 Alresford to Alton train. All trains were running late by now, but that was fine with me. As long as they came!
