Once a celebrity loco, Class 47/4 no. 47500 "Great Western" displays all its finery at the open day. Seen here in its Brunswick green, lined, and with brass number and name plates, the loco would last well into the new millennium. Unfortunately for this loco it would be in the hands of West Coast Railways, under whose care it sadly caught fire whilst hauling a railtour through Manchester, and was recently (2020) scrapped after lingering on for years in store at Carnforth.
