29th June 2009 - West Highland Line & Mallaig Extension
(1) This is a sequence of 4 images of the same train, the 6E16 17.50 Fort William to Tyne Yard empty Alcan alumina tanks from the aluminium works. Today the train is made up of 19 PCA 4 wheel tank wagons, the usual wagon type for this train.

I had previously noted the little 15th century Roman Catholic church of Cille Chorille, high up on the hill above the road to Spean Bridge, at a place known as Achluachrach, so thought it worth investigating. How pleased was I to find this beautiful scenic view of the line! So I offer no apologies for including three shots of the train heading towards Tulloch at 18.20, headed by EWS Class 66111, and unusually with 66105 dead on the rear of the train. Over in the field beyond the road there is evidence of an ancient sheep pen and possibly the foundations of a small building.
