6th August 1995

(1) A new bit of kit at the Tilcon-owned Swinden Quarry at Rylstone. "Cracoe" is a Co-Co unit built by RFS Doncaster in 1994. It weighs in at an incredible 150 tons, ballasted in order to handle extremely heavy stone trains at the terminal. I couldn't miss it, located as it was right at the end of the line, alongside the road and fully accessible. The striking red livery of Tilcon was also unmissable. It wore this livery for a relatively short time, after Tilcon was absorbed into the LaFarge Tarmac Group.
