14th June 1994

(1) 33116 "Hertfordshire Railtours" heads away northbound just after midday with an engineers' department train comprising ballast and spoil wagons. It's approaching Popham No. 1 tunnel. I seem to remember thinking that this was an uncommon sighting of a BR blue Class 33 at the time, their numbers diminishing throughout the 1990s. A "Wessex Electric" Class 442 EMU emerges from the tunnel.
