11th March 2019

My final shot of the day and an interesting one too. Back-to-back power cars 43093 "Old Oak Common HST Depot 1976-2018" (wearing the special decals to honour this famous depot) and 43186, are operating as a light engine movement on the 0E23 13.31 Laira T&RSMD to Doncaster Works (Wabtec), moving there for overhaul and a continued life on the old Western Region when they are done. They'll be operating the short-formation "Castle" HST sets on local services such as Cardiff to Penzance, rather than heading for London. But when these two return the Class 800/802 takeover will be complete. They are passing the skew bridge at East Cliff at 14.40 with still a long journey ahead. They arrived in Doncaster that evening at around 23.00.
