Heading away from me at the overbridge at Haresfield, GWR 166202 is on the 2V88 08.53 Weymouth to Gloucester service, passing on time at 12.30. Autumn colours linger on the trees around me at this location, but one more storm and I'm sure that will be it!
There used to be a station at Haresfield, built by the Bristol and Gloucester Railway in 1854 but taken over by the Midland Railway. From what I can gather the line from here to Gloucester was four tracks all the way from Standish, two lines of the GWR from Swindon, and the other two Midland, but there was no connection between them so the station was only served by the Midland. It closed in 1965 and no trace remains.
