High up on a cliff at 18.20, overlooking Hilton Junction, we see a First ScotRail Class 170 working the 1T38 16.37 Aberdeen to Glasgow as it heads away south. THis remarkable view shows the layout of the junction and the position of Hilton Junction Signal Box.
Hilton Junction is just south of Perth, and after passing through Moncrieffe Tunnel the line immediately enters the junction as seen here. The tunnel is under the cliff on which we are standing, just at the bottom right of the photo. The line to the left heads to Ladybank and then on to Edinburgh, the line to the right being the route to Glasgow, via Gleneagles and Stirling.
