Perth
Perth to me is where you think of start of the Highlands, and certainly this is where the route to Inverness really begins. But it’s a location for many other routes to come together, no more so than that to Aberdeen.
The south end of the station is conventionally crossed by a road bridge that gives you a grandstand view of these two main routes north as they separate like a ‘V’, and also gives a nice outlook of the route south, past the remains of the freight yard and onwards towards Hilton Junction. This is where the line splits east to Fife, and south to Falkirk and the central belt, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
