5th Sept 2009

It’s 17.20 and rather gloomy, in more ways than one. The summer Saturday loco-hauled trains have come to an end for 2009, and although these trains have been in the hands of Class 67s all season, things were going out in style with the hiring of two EWS/DB Schenker Class 37s. And the added bonus was that 37670 “St. Blazey T&RS Depot”, fresh out in its new DB red livery, was one of the chosen “growlers”.
Accompanied by 37401 the 2V67 16.55 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads approaches for it’s booked stop. The sun might not have been shining but I didn’t want to miss this event. Sadly 37670 had a protracted period of storage after withdrawal, eventually being cut up in 2018. It’s fancy new colours didn’t save it, only running for a short time after this day before being laid aside.
