17th May 2018 - London Kings Cross
(1) A privileged opportunity to go over to the "wrong side" of the fence and view the approach lines into Kings Cross from Copenhagen Tunnels gave me the chance to take photographs in an area strictly out of bounds to anyone other than authorised Network Rail staff. The following 11 images are from that visit, but first let us admire the impressive facade to the former Great Northern Railway terminus. Opened in 1852 the station was designed by Lewis Cubitt and Sir William Cubitt. It stands on the site of the Kings Cross Building, a monument to King George IV, and which was demolished in 1845 to make way for the new age of the iron horse.
