Abington, South Lanarkshire (WCML)

This is one of my favourite locations on the whole of the WCML, that along with Crawford. The area was also popular with steam photographers back in the fifties and sixties, and the work of the likes of Derek Cross have imortalised this area forever. The rolling, gentle hills of the borders around here belie the reality that this was, and remians, a tough railway to run. Accessibilty is easy, being just off the A74M, and if you have good weathe the results can be spectacular.
