Nova 3 part 1: With Hansen's' Shap Beck Quarry overlooking the scene, First Transpennine "Nova 3" Class 397 no. 397012 heads north at 09.50. The working is the 1S38 09.04 Preston to Edinburgh. This was my first sighting and photo of these new units and it does seem odd to see a train without its yellow warning panel.
