The tower of St. Mary's Church looks over Freightliner Class 66/6 no. 66614, as it runs light engine east at 13.37. The bridge I am standing on is a flimsy-looking iron girder structure that would have been installed when the line here was quadrupled in the 1940s. With electrification coming its time would soon be up. But it was the perfect location for observing trains on this section of the route.
