19th April 1989

19th April 1989 - Salisbury, Wiltshire
Hoover Superpower! Class 50s nos. 50049 "Defiance" & 50028 "Tiger" are double-heading the 12.20 Exeter St. Davids to London Waterloo NSE service. And both are under power, so the noise is impressive. Double-heading was not too common on this route. I can only guess that this was either balancing working, or maybe there was some minor fault with 50028. On the left is Class 438 4TC unit no. 8007 - there will be a Class 33 or Hampshire unit tucked in behind, on a service to Southampton and Portsmouth.
