47249 had been a Bristol Bath Road-allocated loco since 1978, but in 3 months time the loco would be transferred to Tinsley. Having been painted into the then-new Railfreight grey livery, it has just recently received the extra red stripe above the sole bar, brightening up what was otherwise a rather drab scheme. It would stay in this livery until the end, being scrapped in 1998. It made for quite a sight for me when I arrived at Exeter this day, as up until then I had not seen this red stripe variant before. The smaller numbers were a bit odd.
