4th April 2009

This interesting view of Class 37/4 no. 37409 suggests that its mainline career is long over. In dreadful condition, with faded, pealing paint and vestiges of its former nameplate "Loch Awe" visible, it would appear that the scrap man was the only option. Not so, years later (quite a long time later), 37409 would indeed return to the mainline for DRS and wearing a beautiful coat of BR large-logo blue and carrying the name "Lord Hinton". I even have a shot of it at Chard Junction with inspection coach "Caroline".
