For a number of years this Class 08 shutter, no. D3167, was restored to BR green livery and mounted on an isolated section of track alongside High Street Signal Box. Withdrawn from BR service in 1988 as no. 08102 the loco was bought by Lincoln County Council and placed on display here like a gate guardian. Quite why a Class 08, and not an example of a Ruston engine instead, Ruston being based in Lincoln, I'll never know. It was later moved and now resides at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, Ludborough, North Lincolnshire, in working order.
