4th Sept 1989 - Dublin Connolly
As American as you could get so close to home! A pair of Irish Rail 121 Class locomotives, nos. 121 and 126, depart on the 18.30 Dublin Connolly to Sligo train. These single cab units clearly have their design origins in the classic American switch engine. A bit like an SW1200. Their 8-567CR EMD motors were rated at 950hp (like the twin-cab 141 Class locos). Withdrawn between 2002 and 2008, two members of this class have been preserved, but not these two. The overhead electrics wires are for the Dublin Area Rapid Transit trains.
