Pacer 142090 “nods” along at speed as it shoots past the closed station and signal box at Burton Agnes. This is the 17.37 Scarborough to Hull service. The station closed on 5th January 1970, and you’ll notice that it featured staggered platforms either side of a level crossing.
The ‘box was closed by the time of my visit, but only just. It opened in 1903 and closed 1990, and at the time of my visit still contained the lever frame and crossing wheel, but not much else. This box replaced an earlier one from the 1870s, and which still survives as a listed structure on the opposite side of the line.
