Hull to Scarborough line, North Yorkshire
This route is real rural railway (not easy to say!), hugging the North Sea coast and passing through the traditional seaside resort of Filey.
It was whilst exploring the area back in the 1990s that I discovered the village of Burton Agnes, a name known to me thanks to the preserved GWR 4-6-0 “Burton Agnes Hall”. It was then I realised that not all Great Western engines were necessarily named after places within their geographical area. It wasn’t what I expected!
