One stop down the line from Dolau, on the Central Wales Line, is Pen-y-Bont. 48 and a half miles from Shrewsbury, it is actually closer to the villages of Crossgates and Fron that it is to Pen-y-Bont itself! It was once double track through here, as confirmed by the disused platform on the right. Frost covers the barrow crossing at the southern end of the platform.
