This view was taken from a narrow boat whilst on a week's holiday cruising the Caldon Canal. We are actually on the Trent & Mersey Canal, the Leek branch of the Caldon Canal veering off at Stoke-on-Trent. It was a great holiday, and we were never far from the railway! Seen near Barlaston is Railfreight Class 47 no. 47234 heading south on a train of Ferrywagons and steel carriers, from British Steel Shelton near Stoke. What a delightful view of the English countryside in summer, with sheep grazing the lush grass meadow.
