Another nighttime shot at Waverley, this time my train home, with 47712 "Lady Diana Spencer" hauling the 23.40 Edinburgh Waverley to Bristol Temple Meads sleeper train, a cross country service now consigned to the history books. 47429 is stabled behind. The 47 would work the train to Carstairs, where it would combine with another portion from Glasgow Central, and be hauled south to Birmingham behind an electric. If my memory serves me well, the last leg to Bristol was behind a Peak. This time my "berth buddy" turned out to be a squaddie returning to Lympstone, and I was a little perturbed when he walked in clutching a large case of lager. No chance of any sleep tonight I thought, but in the end I had the berth to myself, as his mates were in another berth and he spent the night there! This shot was taken with a 28mm lens, f11 @ 20 seconds.
