The midday train to London is ready to leave. Pushing at the rear is 91108, now in its new guise as a locomotive belonging to the fleet of the London and North Eastern railways no less! More commonly known as the government directly-controlled passenger franchise LNER, which took over earlier in the year from the failed Stagecoach/Virgin effort to run this rail route. Little effort has been made to create a suitable livery. Just some rebranding on the previous Virgin colours. What a shame. The North British hotel (now The Waverley) firms the iconic backdrop to this view. The train is the 1E14 12.00 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross, seen at 11.45.
