Midday scene -parked up in a siding in the suburb of Havelock, along with two grain cars, are BNSF nos. 2277 (GP38) and 1652 (SD40-2). The latter wearing Burlington Northern 2cascade green" colours of course!
The line through Havelock was built by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, and the nearby mechanical shops were opened by the same company in 1891. The shops are still part of the BNSF operation today, producing wheelsets for freight cars. A large yard nearby provides work for these two units, relegated for local service.
