28th August 2006

At 09.55 preserved Class 40 no. 40145 ambles along the sea wall with the 1Z40 06.50 Ealing Broadway to Penzance "Whistling Pixie" railtour. This was a joint promotion by the Class Forty Preservation Society and Pathfinder Railtours.
The short train suggests to me a modest level of bookings, surprising given the choice of loco and route. My notes from the day read as follows: "7 coach train, ambling along the sea wall, lovely warm summer morning, nice light, tide in, colourful Georgian terraces behind". That just about sums it up nicely I think!
