Dawlish, The Sea Wall & Dawlish Warren, Devon

Since my earlier pictures were taken, of course the wall has been rebuilt after the disastrous storms in January 2014, so some of these views have since changed. But to me the sea wall always has been a favourite train watching place. I think it is because you get so close to the trains, without an ugly fence to get in the way. Long may that continue!

Langstone Rock gives access to the most iconic images that can be taken of this section of the line, and any time until late afternoon and into the evening will be ideal for photography. It's a bit of a scramble up to the top nowadays but the effort is generally worth it.

Dawlish Warren has four tracks through the station, the platforms being served by the two loops, and although the nearby drone of the music from the arcades and amusements nearby can be a little irritating the views in the afternoon of westbound trains is particularly nice.
