17th Nov 1985 - Honiton Incline, Devon
You could hear the locomotive for ages before it appeared! 50027 “Lion” forces itself and its train up Honiton incline with the 09.10 London Waterloo to Exeter St. Davids service. “Lion” has been refurbished but was still wearing its standard corporate blue livery, “large logo” being applied later. Autumn colours are starting to show through on this lovely autumn day. I’m on the bridge closet to the east portal of Honiton Tunnel, this being just around the corner behind me.
