17th Feb 1993

Original "Pacer" unit no. 141101 arrives at Knaresborough on the 14.28 Leeds to York service. It's passing the 1890-built signal box on the right, still controlling its semaphores, and unusually built onto the end of a row of terraced houses on Kirkgate.
Introduced in 1984 the Class 141s lasted in service until 2005. After refurbishment in 1988-89 they were renumbered: although oddly 141101 was not the first of the class (as 141001), but rather 141020! The renumbering was a bit random! Although 14 sets would later be exported to Iran, of all places, this unit was not. It was scrapped in 2004.
