Class 08 no. 08955 is stabled for the weekend at Tidal Sidings, coupled up to 4-wheel VAA van no. 200050.
08955 is a familiar friend, it once being a Laira-based shunter that for many years was out stationed at Exeter St. Davids. I would have seen this engine countless times fussing around the station as well as operating local trip workings between Riverside Yard and City Basin. Built at Darlington Works in 1962 as D4185, it was renumbered as 08955 in 1974. Based in South Wales from new it was transferred to Newton Abbot in 1971 as was then a Westcountry-based loco until it was transferred away back to Wales. Condemned in 2008 it was broken up in Rotherham in 2009.
