The long lens captures both the Northern Class 156 no. 156429 and the down starter signal as the train leaves the station at 10.46. This is the 2W07 09.50 Manchester Victoria to Southport.
Waiting on the station was a mother with her young daughter, who was about to take a train for the first time to see her grandmother in Southport, one stop down the line. What surprised me most was that the mum helped the girl onto the train, along with the pushchair and bag, and left her in the care of the guard to travel alone to Southport, where presumably "Nanny" would be waiting for her at the end of the line. Not what you would expect in this day and age.
