(1) Northern Class 769 no. 769434 approaches the station at 14.03, passing the down home signal situated close to Parbold Cabin and the level crossing. In the distance is the up starter on the same post as a distant controlled by the next signal box up the line at Chapel Lane. Parbold Cabin controls 3 semaphores, the other being the up starter in the other direction behind me. The train is the 2W15 12.51 Stalybridge to Southport. Adjacent to the station, out of sight here to the right, the former Railway Hotel was in the process of being demolished and redeveloped.
