(4) It was a murky, dank day in South Wales at the time of my visit - well, what would you expect in January? Appropriate for a visit to a place called Nelson Bog. Strictly speaking it's Penallta Junction, a location on the Taff Extension Railway where I believe there was a curve to the Rhymney branch. On the day of our visit the unloading process was halted abruptly as the conveyer belt broke! Here is a glimpse between the wagons of the shale waste being unloaded and dumped by the conveyor begore disaster struck. The locomotive was unhooked and sent away south light engine, leaving the job unfinished for a another day!
