(1) At Penallta Junction was located the Britsih Coal "Nelson Bog" shale tip. What a great name for a place to dump your waste! I think it was that name that drove myself and my friend Spencer to investigate this location further and see what traffic there was. So you can imagine our delight when we found Trainload Coal Class 37 no, 37796 standing in the siding with a rake of HAA wagons being unloaded. The train originated at Taff Merthyr Colliery, further up the line.
