Class 26 no. 26037 rattles through southwards with a ballast train. The Class 26 and 27 defined Scotland's railways during the 1970s and 1980s, but by the 1990s it was all-but over, the '27s going first, and the '26s lasting a while longer. But I got to see them in everyday service, which was all I could hope for.
