Class 81 no. 81010 is bringing in empty stock from, I guess, Polmadie Depot, to form a southbound train later on. By now these former AL1 locos were being used on empty stock trains, their front line service on expresses to London having come to an end. There were once 25 in the class and they were built by AEI at the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Works in the West Midlands. Withdrawn from service May 1990 it was scrapped in Sheffield in 1992.
