This Network Rail test train comprises two EWS Class 37s: nos. 37401 "The Royal Scotsman" in the maroon colours of the luxury train of the same name, and 37416 "Sir Robert McAlpine/Concrete Bob", wearing standard EWS red and gold - this loco would eventually receive the same livery as 37401. They are bracketing test coach "Mentor", with its pantograph raised. It still carries the Railtrack brand on the side, despite this company being defunct. "Mentor" is the oldest Network Rail vehicle in the fleet, starting out in life in 1955 as a Mark I passenger coach! The train is seen leaving the station at 16.37.
