4th Sept 1989

Strewn with litter and covered in oil and grease, the platform roads at Heuston gave a very scruffy ambience during this period. 141 Class locos nos. 142 and 166 are ready to depart with the 17.40 Dublin Heuston to Limerick service. They show two different CIE livery periods. Built in 1962 these 950hp locos were steadily withdrawn during the early "noughties", the final ones being taken out of service in 2010. No. 142 was preserved.
