30th April 2015 - Liskeard, Cornwall
(2) Turning around from my viewpoint on the footbridge I now observe 150247 heading away towards Plymouth with the 2P87 13.45 Penzance to Plymouth service. Passing the link to the Looe branch on the left the train is about to cross Liskeard viaduct. The Looe branch leaves at right angles to the mainline and then curves through 180 degrees to pass under the viaduct, from left to right in this view. It then continues to curve around another 90 degrees to the right to arrive at Coombe Junction, where the freight line to Moorswater continues, going under Moorswater viaduct and on to the old china clay terminal, now an off-loading point for cement. The Looe branch train then reverses and heads down the single track to the terminus. It's a fascinating bit of railway.
