3rd July 1984 - Par, Cornwall
I can feel the heat even now, not just because it was a lovely warm summer's day, but the because of the heat radiating from Peak 45141. It is funny how an image can trigger a memory such as this. I have just arrived on the 07.50 Bristol Temple Meads to Penzance, which 45141 will shortly be taking further west.

47355 is standing in sidings with an up Railfreight service. This Class 47 is still with us today, rotting away in sidings at West Coast Railway's depot in Carnforth. Will it ever run again? The Peak has long departed this world.
