Espied in the consist of the northbound "Silver Meteor" was this car, no. 8553, a dining car that originally started life as New York Central Budd Dining Car no. 452, built in 1948. To these British eyes it is quite remarkable that a coach of such heritage - 69 years old - can still be found in front-line passenger service today. There are plans afoot to preserve this car, so let us hope they succeed!
