At 13.45 Charles is in charge of the 13.40 Derby Castle to Sea Terminal service, passing in front of the Penta Hotel, one of the many hotels on the promenade. The destination of Sea Terminal is a little misleading, as in fact the trams run as far as a roundabout, near the sea terminal, the last stretch being lost under the tarmac. The traffic seemingly races past and around the horse trams, with little regard for the safety of the animals, so I can only hope that accidents are very rare. You see an incredible number of high-end and top-of-the range cars on the Isle of Man, laughable really when you consider that the best roads are nothing more than country lanes full of pot holes, and there is little opportunity to put your foot down. There must be a high number of frustrated petrol heads on the island!
