Bishton Flyover, Llandevenny, Gwent

The South Wales Main Line was increased from two to four tracks during the Second World War, as the railways needed greater capacity to move goods to help the war effort. Bishton Flyover was installed when the Llanwern Steelworks were opened after the war, and takes the goods line over the main tracks to the other side, thus splitting them so that they flank the two passenger lines in the centre. West of Llanwern the goods lines are together on the south side and passenger lines on the north side. The Flyover is used several times during the day, by oil and stone trains in most instances. It's a great train watching location.
